GRGICH
1977 CABERNET SAUVIGNON

This is a great wine. It's a massive Cabernet from start to finish, still youthful and uninvolved. Tannins numb the surface of the wine: rich and black with a savor that cuts at the dark fruit like a knife. At first. that fruit is just as black as the tannins, an essence of the black skin of the grapes, and then it builds from under the tannin to take on deeper, bolder plum flavors. It should lengthen out as it ages, but even now, it's great stuff.

  VARIETALS

AGAJANIAN
1998 ZINFANDEL

Our original intention was to make this unique red wine for our family and friends. We received such a great response at the Zinfandel Advocates & Producers tasting at Fort Mason-San Francisco; we decided to go public with a limited quantity of our private reserve. Winemaker's Notes: "An approachable wine that shows nice control - the fruit is restrained and the tannins are fine. Very dark color with Port-like aromas with hints of boysenberry, raspberry, and cigar. Technically dry but surpassingly soft and individualistic. Ready to drink now or be aged 10 to 15 years."

  CRANE CANYON CELLARS
1999 PINOT NOIR

The vibrant. deep purple robe is a harbinger of the intense extraction of the 1999 Pinot Noir. A rich bouquet of black cherry. chocolate. hints of spice and soft vanilla from the French oak. The mouth-feel is pour-over pancake rich with an expansive mid-palate that gains in complexity as it lingers and lingers, slowly tapering off into a suggestion of dried cherries. Gentle tannins and great structure support its showy elegance. A peacock feather fan of colors on the palate.
  RIC ROSS SONOMA COUNTY
1999 RUSSIAN RIVER PINOT NOIR Saralee Vineyard

This 1999 Russian River Pinot Noir has a nose filled with black cherry and plum with subtle French oak in the background. The mouth has a nice complexity with silky smooth tannins and a soft long finish.
  GARY FARREL
1998 PINOT NOIR

This offering is quite generous and firmly structured, yet maintains a sublime elegance in its rich expression of oak-enhanced strawberry/raspberry fruit. Its very full, satisfying and lengthy finish shows great balance and finesse, yet pleads for years of careful cellaring.
  MIRASSOU CENTRAL COAST
2001 PINOT NOIR

This wine has a lush fruit bouquet that is spiced with a touch of clove and vanilla with a background of plum and ginger. On the palate are forward cherry fruit flavors that nicely join plum and spice components with a creamy oak texture leading to a long finish.
  SAVIGNON BLANC Mendocino County
2000 SAUVIGNON BLANC, Powerhouse Vineyard

Clean crisp, this Sauvignon Blanc comes from the cool climate region of Mendocino County. Aromas of citrus, mineral, pear and ripe peaches carry through to a bold palate. Aging on lees gives it enough body to match with lightly sauced seafood or soft, creamy cheeses.
  BERINGER
1999 NAPA VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC

The pleasant herbal note that characterizes Sauvignon Blanc is still there, but it is balanced by ripe fruit flavors that have no green edge at all. I also find a nice note of grapefruit and some spicy fig in the wine in this vintage.
  BRANCOTT VINEYARDS MARLBOROUGH
2000 SAUVIGNON BLANC

This wine has a light straw color with green highlights. The bouquet is dominated with ripe gooseberry, capsicum and hints of tropical fruit flavors. On the palate this wine displays rich fruit intensity from the low 2000 yield. The fresh herbaceous flavors meld well, while passion fruit and citrus nuances add further interest. A well-balanced wine with the fresh, crisp acidity associated with this style.
  CARMENET
2000 RESERVE SAUVIGNON BLANC

The aromas of the finished wine are classically varietal, with hints of ripe figs, melon and smoke. The flavors are crisp and refreshing and will complement a wide range of herbed and spiced dishes.
  FRITZ
1999 SAUVIGNON BLANC

Ripe fruit from the Jenner Vineyard gives is rich citrus and pineapple flavors, while fruit from the Poplar Vineyard evokes kiwi and warm scents of baked apple.
  LAWSON'S DRY HILLS
200I MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC

Ripe gooseberry and passion fruit aromas are balanced with crisp herbal flavors, good palate weight and a long fresh finish.
  ZINFANDEL
AMPHORA 1999 ZINFANDEL, Dry Creek Valley

The flavors are true to the nose and follow through with medium body and intense fruit sensations of raspberry, dried cherries and white pepper melded with the French and American oak.
  BELVEDERE
Dry Creek Valley 1999 Zinfandel

This is true, honest Dry Creek Zinfandel. A great Zinfandel always has to have the rich, jammy fruit as the star, and this wine does not disappoint! The nose carries this character of Boysenberry jam along with a great vanilla spice right to your senses. As you taste the wine and finish your glass think about it as a classic American statement: Bold, assertive and not afraid to show you it s true colors. Delicacy? No. Fruit-driven power? Yes. As American as Apple Pie...only in this case its Boysenberry!
  BOEGER WINERY
EL DORADO 1999 ZINFANDEL

Wow, this is a big, rich Zin we were delighted to taste at ZAP 2002. The bouquet is packed with jammy fruit aromas. On the palate jammy fruits lead to a spicy, peppery finish.
  CHATEAU SOUVERAIN
1999 DRY CREEKVALLEY ZINFANDEL

Bursting with jammy boysenberry and black cherry notes, this Zinfandel offers a rich, round mouth-feel, which exemplifies the classic Dry Creek "fruit-driven" style of this varietal. Modest acidity and soft tannins deliver a balanced, medium bodied wine, touched with spicy, toasty notes and a hint of black pepper from Petite Sirah, all contributing elements to the complexity and richness throughout the long juicy finish.
  COTURRI
2000 Zinfandel Chauvet Vineyards

The 2000 Zinfandel Chauvet Vineyards is sweet and fruity like the 1999 but with less acid and alcohol. Easy sipping or serve it with some spicy foods and you will be happy. This wine is an enigma to me; I can't figure how it does all that it does yet be so grapy and subtle.
  DOMAINE DANICA
1998 ZINFANDEL

An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a whopping 16% alcohol, which is well hidden by the wine's high extract and rich, full-bodied, chewy style. Aromas of jammy black fruits, pepper and spice ooze from this unctuously textured, fat, succulent effort with adequate acidity and gobs of flavor.
  FREY VINEYARDS
1999 ZINFANDEL

Wow, this is a rich wine with hints of blackberry and raspberry. On the palate it is round and graceful with mild tannins. Made from CCOF certified organically grown Zinfandel grapes from the bench lands of Mendocino County. The vines are from 17 to 33 years of age. The grapes were harvested September and October 1999. This wine is CCOF processor certified organic and aged on French oak.
  LIMERICK LANE
1999 COLLINS VINEYARD ZINFANDEL

The intense red currant, raspberry and dark cherry flavors are backed with subtle toasty barrel notes, firm tannins and a huge, lasting finish. This wine has the classic structure of an age-worthy Limerick Lane Zinfandel.
